Americans for Prosperity – Georgia Applauds Support for Cottage Foods
Americans for Prosperity – Georgia (AFP-GA) thanked Governor Brian Kemp for signing HB 398 into law. This important legislation will significantly reduce the regulatory burden related to cottage food operators (individuals who produce homemade food items at a residential property).
AFP-GA previously partnered with local bakers to distribute baked goods to staff and visitors in the State Capitol while urging support for the legislation in a previous session of the legislature.
AFP- GA State Director Tony West released the following statement:
“Today is a great day for cottage food operators across Georgia. Thanks to Governor Kemp and HB 398’s advocates in the Georgia legislature, this new law will ensure that stay-at-home moms looking to earn supplemental income and entrepreneurs starting a small business will be freed from arbitrary and burdensome regulations. This is the first time the legislature has codified regulations for these entrepreneurs. For years, AFP-GA has been advocating for this important legislation, and today’s bill signing underscores that the spirit of free enterprise is alive and well in Georgia.”
